CQUniversity Leadership Conference 2018 – My reflection ( Part 2)

DAY 1

30th Oct – The day is finally here I was eagerly waiting for.

I had a flight at 8 am from Sydney. Roger Shrestha joined me from Sydney campus. But the interesting moment was when I met Sophie at the Sydney Airport. I had no idea that she was also taking part in the Leadership Conference because earlier I was told that there would be only two students from Sydney campus who would be joining the conference. I met Sophie in our uni library as she is working part time as library staff. We became actually a friend in the Orientation program last term in Sydney campus where we both worked as a volunteer and after that it was the first time I met her.

With Qantas flight, we landed on Brisbane and  then another flight to Gladstone. The moment I was about to land on Gladstone was so hard for me because my both ears were hurting so badly. I couldn’t express how I was feeling at that time but it was really bad – felt like my ears would burst with pain. We landed on Gladstone and I could really feel the summer had started there because back in Sydney, when I left, the weather was cool.

Sometimes it’s not all about getting paid, it’s about experiences.

It is around 12: 30 am. All the lights are off and I am lying on the bed ready to sleep. But something deep in my heart, I feel like I should share this in my blog. So, I got up, took my laptop and logged into my blog.

The past two days were one of the most productive days of my life ever since I came here in Sydney. Especially, today, I was more confident and more interactive that I have never been before. Truly speaking, I am an introvert.

When I go back to my past life, I felt like I really missed so much of thing due to being an introvert. I was basically a shy and really struggled hard to communicate with the stranger. The more important, I hardly shared my feelings with others due to which I was becoming so hard that it felt like there was no such feeling, no expression and moreover no Joy. But what I have learned in this two days is to connect with the people, to enjoy with the feeling and to communicate confidently. I know there is still more to learn and I am sure I will.

Yesterday and Today, there was an orientation session for the new international students in CQ university and I was a part of volunteering.

DAY 2 Orientation

DAY 1 Orientation

Events stall in Orientation

One of my friend asked me”, How much did Uni pay you?”

Me,” It’s free, a part of volunteering.”

Friend,” So, why are you wasting your time?”

It made me think for a while……… I didn’t get the answer at that moment.

But, today I have an answer.

Yes, the ability to work with the new people, the skill to communicate efficiently with the staffs and getting to know with the new peers that is what being paid and it is more than getting paid per hour.

Sometimes it’s not all about getting paid, it’s about experiences.

Time usually passed so fast that we eventually can’t realize how fast it passed away. I believe that university is not only the place to get the academic learning but it in fact is the place to learn the new skills for our career goals. It’s a part of learning experiences and I have a vision that every one of CQuni students will not only take academic certificates from CQU after they graduates but also take the learning experiences that values in their life ahead.

A step towards Personal development

Wow……..

Amazing, awesome, mind blowing…………..

I should have done this before……………….

Anyway, I have done it and it really made me feel better than before.
